Communities
There are man different all encompassing travel communities online to choose from. I first discovered Traveller’s Point in 2007 when I was planning my post-college backpacking trip to Europe. I don’t know how I chose that website above others, but I knew I wanted one place to keep pictures, blogs, and travel maps about my trip and Traveller’s Point had it all. I plan on documenting all of my travels on that website and have become a frequent contributor to the travel wiki. There are so many features on there that I haven’t even touched more than half of them.
Other communities with similar services include Travel Blogs and Travel Pod.
If you are a student or youth traveler, STA is a good community to keep in touch with. They have a facebook page, flickr, twitter, youtube, and a blog. They also frequently run contests with a variety of prizes, including free trips! I’ve entered many and never won anything, but it’s always worth a shot.
If you are an Expat or studying abroad, try the UK-Yankee Forum. Since we are not expats or students traveling abroad, we don’t have any personal interactions with this website, but it’s come highly recommended by friends.
